dtSearch Corp. is pleased to announce the release of Version 6.06 of its entire product line, including new tools for forensics, Web logging, and a new search filter API.
All products now support optional filename-only indexing of non-text formats, such as video and audio formats.
All products also have new support for automatically detecting the encoding of single-byte text files that lack encoding information, based on the language of the file contents. Supported languages/encodings: Arabic, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Italian, Russian (KOI_8R and CP1251), Spanish, Central European (CP1250), and UTF-8.dtSearch Desktop / Network includes two new tools for forensics use (in addition to potential forensics use of the features mentioned above):
The "extext" text extractor utility for extracting text from large binary files (click Start|Programs|dtSearch|Tools|Extext) .
The "forix" forensic indexer utility, for creating indexes from very large volumes of data (click Start|Programs|dtSearch|Tools|Forix)

dtSearch Web has new support for customizable logging of search requests and document access.
The dtSearch Engine developer API has a new SearchFilter object that provides a way to pre-select the documents that are eligible to be returned in a search. This feature can be useful when a database search and a dtSearch text search must be combined. See the SearchFilter (VB) or dtsSearchFilter (C++) topic in the dtSearch Engine help file for details.

MS Word File Parser Beta Testers
The improved MS Word file parser that was included in the dtSearch 6.06 beta was removed from the final dtSearch 6.06 package because it was not yet ready for release. The improved MS Word file parser has been added to the dtSearch 6.07 beta.
If you have indexes built with the improved MS Word file parser, please go to In Beta to download the dtSearch 6.07 beta, using the same download codes as previously for the dtSearch 6.06 beta. (Installing the final 6.06 release will require deleting indexes built with the improved MS Word file parser.)
If you would like to try the improved MS Word file parser beta in the dtSearch 6.07 beta and need the password for this file, please contact dtSearch.
