Overview
EnBase is a wiki application designed
to install on your own local network. Examples of the Wiki concept on
the public Internet such as the Wikipedia project show that enormous
knowledge banks can be built up in a short timeframe. Imagine having
your own 'wikipedia' capturing your department or company wide expertees
in one secure 'knowledgebase', and searchable by one of the most powerful
search engines available. Well now you can - just install EnBase on
your network and all users can log in and add and edit content through
their browser. All the content will be stored securely in an SQL database*
and will be indexed automatically by the dtSearch Engine.
Secure
Content Management
 All
content is stored in an SQL database* housed on your own network.
Administrators
can create and edit Groups, user accounts, permissions and passwords
from any browser on the network.
Administrators can create Topic Categories to match your
specific organisations way of working
Users can
belong to several Groups with either Read-only, Editor or Administrator
access rights.
Roll-back
to earlier content should the current content be accidently erased or
edited.
The search
index caches the content of the database so that even if the database
is destroyed the index still contains all the content.
Ease
of Use
Type straight
into the browser, copy and paste content from other documents or import
content from Office applications.
Uses standard
HTML markup, no need to learn any special 'Wiki markup' language.
Add images and make them searchable by adding keywords or phrases.
Content is
indexed automatically each time a user Saves a topic. Unlike saving Office
documents there is no need to worry about what to name a document, where
to save it, or what document properties to add; everything is saved in
the same place and all users in the same Group can search and access everything
from their browsers within seconds of it being created. Watch your team

may have made it impossible for other search tools to find what you

Multilingual
Topic
content can be created and edited in any language supported by Unicode.
Topic
Names can use ANSI or Cyrillic characters, making it suitable for
all Western and Eastern European languages.
Searching
can be in any language supported by Unicode; stemming is for English
but can be optimised for other languages by means of Language
Extension Packs; the WordNet thesaurus is for English (includes
US, British, Australian variants); the 'sounds-like' feature uses
a Soundex algorithm which is suitable for any Latin script (ANSI)
language, it performs well for most Western European languages.
Special features
Program
code put between standard HTML <code> tags will be highlighted
and CamelCase words will
not be converted to hyperlinks.
Customisable
Choose from a number of themes or edit standard .css stylesheets to
control the page and content layout.
Banner text and Logo can be changed to suit your company or workgroup
style.
*The standard
version is supplied with Microsoft
SQL Server 2005 Express edition.
** The
standard version is supplied with English stemming rules. EnBase is
compatible with Language Pack series 400 which can extend the stemming
