Search Application Name for an SSP

You need to know the GUID for the Search Application Name so you can set the target path to the correct thesaurus XML file.

Sharepoint 2007:

%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Office Servers\12.0\Data\Office Server\Applications\*GUID*\Config

Sharepoint 2010:

%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Office Servers\14.0\Data\Office Server\Applications\*GUID*\Config

To obtain this

Click Start/Run and type regedit

Go to

Sharepoint 2007:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Office Server/12.0/Search/Applications

Sharepoint 2010:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Office Server/14.0/Search/Applications

You will now see the GUID of each Search Application you have, browse each GUID to find another folder called CatalogNames, select this folder and you will see a key called "DisplayName" with a data value which is the Search Application Name.

The GUID corresponds to the Search Application Name which matches to the GUID's in the Application folder.
