Title: How to create a debug log (Stemming Language Selector 2)

Ref: ED106
Last updated: 16th August 2007

The Stemming Language Selector version 2 has a debug feature that will create a log file that reports the paths it is using to
find the stemming files and where it creates the new stemming.dat file; if present it will record any command-line arguments
passed to the application (see this article ED104) and any path settings that may be in the configuration file (see this article ED105).

The log also contains details of any error messages that have occured while running the application, together with details
of the operating sytem version, memory, and location of certain Windows Registry values that are needed for support purposes.
No personal information is collected.

To create a debug log:

Step 1. Click the About button (or press ALT + A) on the Stemming Language Selector.

Step 2. Check the Debug Log box and press the OK button.

Step 3. Select another language, then press About, then OK, and finally OK again to close the application.

Step 4. Look in the Errors folder where the Stemming Language Selector is installed, and open the file errLog.txt in Notepad.
You can delete the file once you no longer require the infomation, it is not needed for the Stemming Selector to run and
a new file will be created if any errors occur or if you create a debug log.

The debug log setting will be cleared when the application is closed.

If you need assistance please use the Support Form to report details of the problem.
